Jobs application replied from Mothercare

I recieved a call from Mothercare last Tuesday, about the position of design assistant I applied for. Then she asked me to send my previous work to them by email and wait for their reply soon.

From yesterday afternoon, I recieved an email from Mothercare but it was unsuccessful to go next stage for job interview; I was quite disappointed that everytime I applying jobs whether in fashion retail or in design assistant, always unsuccess. But other people already got their jobs especially in design assistant position. I was wondering if the employee only employ English rather than Asian Chinese.

Internship interview at Felicity Brown

I was so excited that I received a call by Henry Brown from Felicity Brown on the other day for interview after I applied for internship in email day before. I was interviewed with Henry Brown in Felicity Brown at London College of Fashion. He was nice and really invited me to help Felicity Brown to work on the current collection until the London Fashion Week 2012 at Somerset House.

Changeable outfits

Roberto Capucci

From the interview with Silvina Maestro, she gave me the name of Italian fashion designer called Roberto Capucci; I really like his previous collection that were really related to my recent final collections, but I could use their inspiration for my future collection. His work were luxury but exaggerated and very origami, which gives me speechless reaction.

Internship interview

I went to London for internship interview with a fashion designer called Silvina Maestro. I felt excited and nervous because I was afraid I will talk not clear or any mistakes. During the interview, Silvina was nice and friendly. While I presented my work to her, she liked the way I designed and she recommended some fashion designers to me that their designs were exaggerated and very constructive. I'm not expecting too much, but at least I could see her real person.

PolyU Fashion Show 2012

When I browsed the google of  Hong Kong fashion, I found this Hong Kong website of PolyU Fashion Show 2012. It was about the competition that each local contestant produce the collections and the judges mark their work while model walk in the runway with their work. I was pretty like some of the designer contestants' collection that were reflected my creative style.

The Graduate Fashion Week 2012 were fantastic, have lots of many different final collections by graduate students including me from all the University stands.

Company at Graduate Fashion Week 2012

I was surprised that my final collection has been photographed by Company Magazine. I found it was unbelievable that many people's collection in the same stand were better than my collection. I thought that my work were too bright and colourful which will make people did not like, but they do like it. I saw lots of visitors included students and other people looked at my work, taken photos, taken my card; I was started to have confident.

I received some photos of female model with my outfits taken from Tuesday by my classmate Deimante Meilune at Firstsite art museum, Colchester. I was lucky I found this girl from the lists of names on the notice board for modelling at the Graduate Fashion Show.

My fifth pieces of outfit have been made; applied in 2 prints in one piece, with fringe trims and 2 colour beads embellishment.

PDP hand in deadline

It was the deadline today to hand the PDP file. I have lots of things happen to me all the time which I couldn't organise PDP file properly and lots of things to put in this file; I was get started to worry about my final year grade result.

Professional Developmental Planning - Presentation

Every time I have presentation made me so nervous and less confident on speaking skills. This is never solving the problem. Generally I was okay talking to the people that I know, but when to talk to in front of the people to present my work, I was then become nervous very sudden. I think is because they might know that my English is not very fluent that didn't give me any panic. The other reason that I think make me nervous was preparation. I couldn't organise PDP and FMP at the same time which I find it hard to handle. Today's PDP presentation, I prepared not very well that I have no confident and unsure myself to present it. Also the 2nd year students were there to listen as well that I was worried they might not understand what I was trying to talk about and they might feel boring because of my speaking skills was very poor and misunderstanding. I didn't really know how can I improve speaking skills for my future career.

My second pieces of outfit is cowl neck and double layer of raspberry pink pencil skirt and turquoise gathered flare skirt outside; white fringe on shoulder sleeves embellish in seed beads, with prints with pink Chinese writing in black and turquoise dip dye background.

Master of Origami Pattern Cutting - Shingo Sato

I watched the video clips from youtube by the master of pattern cutting, Shingo Sato earlier before he visit in the studio. He shows the demonstration and experimentation to develop the pattern cutting in origami constructions; it was attracted me very much. I never thought about that I can be able to see him in close distance. His pattern cutting skills is very strong which inspired me lots of ideas to put in my final major project.
